#Review Death by Tea by Alex Erickson @AEricksonbooks #Mystery
I read the first book in this series right before or right after it was released. I enjoyed it and quickly connected with Krissy over the cats. I am not a cat person. Let me be up front about that. I much prefer my bunnies and dogs over cats. However, I do have cats. The reason I have cats are simple, 1) they belong to my ex-husband and 2) I live in the country on a farm. Cats are useful to help keep rodents away and cat’s rodents. The female cat is always bestowing me with some new kill. The male cat is always attempting to stretch out and knock off whatever is in his way. Him and I are currently in a battle of war.
There are a lot of male authors who just cannot write a female character. These authors write the female as stand offish and not likeable. Erickson does not have that problem. Krissy is a friendly, lovable character who is easy to connect with. A person who is just trying to move out from under her father’s wing. She wants people to accept her for who she is and not who is her father. Krissy is one of those people who think about her actions after she has already done the deed. She is quick to action and ‘to hell’ with the consequences. She is someone that wants to help no matter what may come. A very likeable person who just seems to not realize her actions are her downfall.
I enjoyed the twisted way Erickson has brought in Krissy’s ex-boyfriend. It makes this reader wonder what part he might play in a future book. Then we have Krissy’s father, a well-known mystery writer. A man who has fans obsessing about him. Obsessing in ways a little beyond normal. Then we have Rita. A person who is beyond annoying and has to be in the middle of everything.
If you have not read the first in this series I suggest starting there first. These are all stand-alone book but it is so much more fun to know a little more about the characters. I recommend this book to any who enjoy cozy mysteries. It’s the Cat’s Meow.
