Review: Giving In by Maya Banks @Maya_Banks #Erotica
***Disclosure: Book borrowed from the public library. ***
I freely admit that I did not enjoy the first book in this series. I felt let down by the so-called BDSM aspect of the book. I love the characters but the BDSM is not really BDSM. It is just a couple of vanilla people who enjoy adding a little spice to their sex life.
I enjoyed the characters and wanted to know how they overcame their struggles but that is it. However for me the characters very quickly overcame everything. Kylie was physically abused and rape as a child. This happened repeatedly. For a normal person they would not easily give up their body to a man if they have not had extensive therapy. Kylie admits in the book that she feels going to see a therapist is weak. She has not worked thru her problems and with that a normal person would not just say ‘Ok let’s have sex because I think I can trust you’. Sorry that is not something that would happen in real life.
After the let down from book one I only started this book because I really wanted to know what happened to Kylie. Let me tell you it was not worth reading. I honestly feel cheated out of time after reading.
The bunnies and I do NOT recommend this book.
The bunnies and I give this book carrots.
FROM THE “MUST-READ AUTHOR” (ROMANCE JUNKIES) OF LETTING GO—THE NEW NOVEL IN HER SURRENDER TRILOGY.
In her sensational Breathless Trilogy, New York Times bestselling author Maya Banks tested the boundaries of desire. In her new trilogy, there’s only one thing left to do: cross them. Now, the story continues as one woman, haunted by the shadows of the past, explores the possibilities of a new beginning in ways she never could have imagined…
Kylie sees the way Jensen looks at her. The dark promise in his eyes. That rough edge of dominance she knows he possesses. But dominance is the one thing that frightens her above all else. She and her brother barely survived a childhood steeped in violence and abuse. She could never give up total control and submit to a man. Especially a man like Jensen. Could she?
Jensen sees the shadows in Kylie’s eyes. Knows he has to tread very carefully or risk losing any chance he has with her. All he wants is the opportunity to show her that dominance doesn’t equal pain, bondage or discipline. That emotional surrender is the most powerful of all, and that to submit fully to him will fulfill the aching void in her heart in a way nothing else ever will.
