When I find a book set in historical Scotland I always buy. This book meets my main requirement. When starting this book late one night I did not stop reading until the next day when I finished. For me this was a great filler while waiting for the next Outlander episode to air.
I was happy to read the second book in the Highland Spy series. I was even happier to know the book was fully set in Scotland. I love reading about men in kilts. I can imagine the accent, the setting and even seeing the men riding horses into battle.
I admit I am not as fond of Grace as her sister from the first book. Grace just rubbed me the wrong way with her attitude and how she thought she could do anything her sister did. Then she kept thinking that she should follow in her parents, uncle and sister’s footsteps. Granted I have wondered if women were allowed to be a spy during this time but not all females were able to gather information needed for King and country.
Even though I did not like Grace’s character I still enjoyed this book. The setting and Gaelic language with these two things I was quickly transported back to 17th century Scotland.
I highly recommend this book to any who enjoy historical romances set in Scotland.

Ever since Lady Grace Walsingham discovered her uncle and sister are spies for the Crown, she has yearned for adventure. She’s counting the days until she can leave barbaric Scotland behind, even if she must endure Highland captain Fagan Murray’s company for weeks.
Fagan has a simple mission: escort the haughty Lady Grace back to England. But nothing is ever easy. The sharp-tongued woman needles him at every turn. But when a menacing threat follows them on their journey, Fagan’s grudging tolerance for Grace turns to respect…and into a perilous attraction that could seal their fate.
